Increase in the number of private sector workers enrolled in pension plans

By Irene Madongo (April 21, 2022, 6:27 p.m. BST) – Auto-enrollment has helped increase the proportion of Britons saving for retirement, with official figures showing that the number of private sector workers saving in pension plans has more than double .

Data released by the Office for National Statistics on Wednesday shows the number of private sector employees saving in workplace pension schemes has risen from 32% to 75% since the introduction of automatic enrollment in 2012 .

The program aims to encourage more people to save for their retirement. Since its introduction, UK employers have had to automatically register eligible staff for an eligible occupational pension.
