ERIE, Pennsylvania, October 6, 2021– Erie Insurance(ERIE) got three 2021 Impact on Diversity AwardGlobal ERG Network, the world’s largest network of Employee Resource Groups (ERGs), Enterprise Resource Groups (BRGs) and Diversity Councils dedicated to making measurable progress in diversity, equity and inclusion.
ERIA’s African-American Affinity Network and the company’s Dignity & Respect Affinity Network were both named by the organization among the top 25 recipients of the ERG Diversity Impact Award.
Fred Johnson, vice president and branch manager for Wisconsin, was also one of five recipients of the Executive Sponsor of the Year award for the impact of diversity. Johnson is the executive sponsor of ERIA’s African-American Affinity Network.
Johnson and other leaders of the ERIE Affinity Network were recognized in September at an awards ceremony at the ERG & Council 2021 conference.
“The work carried out by the ERIA Affinity Networks is important for the sustainability of our organization. Educating, raising awareness and celebrating our diverse cultures is important in creating inclusive workplaces, ”said Christina Marsh, Manager of Diversity and Community Development at ERIE. “I was delighted to see this well-deserved national recognition for these two affinity networks and Fred Johnson, given the deep commitments each has to advancing DCI here at ERIE.”
Although Erie Insurance has been formally committed to diversity and inclusion for over 10 years, this national recognition also comes at a time when the company is improving and stepping up its efforts on diversity, equity and Chief Executive Officer (DCI) under the leadership of Marsh, who reports to ERIA President and CEO, Tim NeCastro.

ERIE is also a signatory member of CEO action for diversity and inclusion, The country’s largest business commitment, led by CEOs, to driving measurable actions and meaningful change to advance diversity, equity and inclusion in the workplace.
The 2021 Diversity Impact Awards are based on a data-driven and scientifically validated model called The Impact Model ™, developed by Dr. Theresa Welbourne, Affiliate Principal Investigator at USC Marshall School of Business Center for Effective Organizations and CEO of eePulse. In addition to recognition, organizations that participate in the Diversity Impact Awards process each year receive benchmark data to measure their own progress over time.
