CM KCR offers Aasara pension to people over 57


Hyderabad: This is the Independence Day gift to the poor in Telangana State. Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has announced the extension of the Aasara pension to an additional 10 lakh of members aged 57. The CM also announced the launch of a new pension scheme for dialysis patients and the release of 75 prisoners on August 15 on the eve of independent India’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations.

Speaking to the press at Pragati Bhavan on Saturday, he said that currently the number of Aasara pensioners in the state stands at 36 lakh. About 10 lakh newly identified pensioners will benefit this month. With this, the total number of retirees will be 46 lakh. New barcode cards will be given to all retirees. Ministers and MPs have been urged to take action to extend the pension benefit to new people in their respective assembly segments.

A new pension scheme for dialysis patients under which each beneficiary will receive Rs 2,016 per month has also been introduced, he said and added that police officials have been asked to identify prisoners over 75 years for liberation on independence day.

The Chief Minister said that the government has already decided to introduce the “Netannaku Bhima” scheme to extend Rs 5 lakh insurance coverage to the weaving community soon.
